Samuel Tinon Great Tokaj Wines offers today a complete range of Tokaj wines, from the very dry Furmint to the extremely concentrated Esszencia we know is unique to this Hungarian region. Tokaj is a very exciting playing field indeed, with grapes offering different stages of maturity and a huge variety of Crus (“dűlő”). Samuel Tinon started here with the vintage 2000, a fantastic year that gave a lot of aszú berries. Botrytis was no mystery to him: he was born and grew up in a sweet wine region, Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, facing Sauternes in France. With a solid background of studies and experiences, Samuel travelled a lot whilst following several vintages in Tokaj as a consultant before starting his own winery. That gave him an overview to understand the region’s exceptional potential and a precise idea of what he wanted to achieve here. One of his favourite wines is Dry Szamorodni, perhaps the region’s most important wine. This is what Samuel wants to express in this Auction with a beautiful Dry Szamorodni 2011. He still remains faithful to the Aszú wines and continues to express the terroirs through his “Botrytis-free” wines.

Wine offered at 2017 Great Tokaj Wine Auction:
Tokaji Dry Szamorodni 2011
Tokaji Aszú 5 puttonyos 2013
