The Tokaj-Hétszőlő estate’s first-class vineyards lie on south-facing slopes near the town of Tokaj. The history of the 55-hectare Tokaj-Hétszőlő estate began in 1502 when the Garai family assembled seven vineyards (hét=seven, szőlő=vineyard). The loess soil of the estate gives Hetszőlő wines their silkiness and elegance, crowned with freshness. This refined elegance has distinguished Hétszőlő wines for centuries. The Hétszőlő Estate owns the very atmospheric 15th-century heritage Rákóczi Cellar on the main square in Tokaj, the perfect place for wine tastings and events.
“We believe in using organic methods to preserve the vitality of our soil and of our vines. In order for every bottle of Hétszőlő wine to achieve this philosophy, we only use our own grapes and aszú berries for our wines.” Gergely Makai, vineyard-winemaker.
