Winemaking: Traditionally Füleky harvests aszú berries from the Furmint vines in Király vineyard. This is its gift. Thus the challenge and thrill for the winery is to show the potential of the terroir, often as single-vineyard with “more difficult”, small lots. Examples of this are the 2012 dry wine and in 2014 the late harvest Király Furmint.

In 2014 the botrytised, shrivelled bunches were selected and pressed, then after a one-night skin contact, the wine fermented spontaneously, quickly and evenly in small barrels. It was racked after fermentation ended and, similar to Füleky Sajgó-dűlő auction lot, the wine is expected to mature in the barrel until August 2015 after which it will be bottled.

Wine tasting:Füleky wines have already swept many consumers off their feet. Their almost lacily airy wines are never without weight, tending to be built on more restraint and elegance. This lot fits well into the line of earlier wines. Impeccable acid structure, not overly aromatic. Warm spiciness, very long finish.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
