Since the incredible vintage 2000, which allowed him to start his great adventure as a Tokaj producer, Samuel Tinon has strived continually to express the best of the Aszú berries. Botrytis was not a secret for him: he was born and grew up in a sweet wine region, Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, facing Sauternes in France. Tokaj was fascinating for him, as he came at the age of 22 with a solid background of studies and experiences. Samuel travelled a lot and at the same time, followed several vintages in Tokaj as a consultant. That gave him enough insight to understand the exceptional potential of the region.
Samuel Tinon Grands Vins de Tokaj offers a complete range of Tokaj wines, from the very Dry Furmint to the extremely concentrated Eszencia, unique to this Hungarian region. Tokaj is a very exciting playing field indeed, with grapes offering different stages of maturity and a huge variety of Crus (dűlő). This is what Samuel wants to express once again through this Fourth Great Tokaj Wine Auction. A Dry Furmint from Szent Tamás from 2015 and the other half of the 136 l barrel of Aszú 2011 will represent the winery this year, both of them unique and very small cuvées.
