Wine making
In the second half of October we harvested totally ripe bunches at 24 °Bx from (“swallow-tail”) Hárslevelű vines planted in the 1970s. Gentle pressing, then settling before spontaneous fermentation with natural yeast in Szerednyei 220-l barrel. After racking it was transferred to third-fill Zemplén oak barrel in December. It aged on fine lees for 5 months. Bottled in long-neck Schlegel bottles in May. Bottle aging in the Kastély (Mansion) cellar.
Wine tasting
“Warmer tones in colour, the mature character can be felt in the wine. Both aromas and flavours bring the notes of this more mature wine. Warm spiciness, restrained barrel notes, citrus peel and green walnut dominate. Good structure built on defined and good quality acids. The maturity dominates throughout this balanced wine.” (Mészáros Gabriella)
