Winemaking

We picked the aszú berries in separate selections from early October to mid-November. The aszú berries pressed out the Eszencia under their own weight. Then it fermented over a long time in demi-johns. This 2013 Eszencia was bottled at the end of 2016.

Wine tasting

“It is a rare event to have such a young Eszencia in the glass. Actually if someone tastes this lot, they may indeed think rather of a sophisticated seasoning, the companion of refined textures than a wine. Eszencia always has a very low alcohol content, so we cannot speak of a wine in the classic sense.

A viscous, exciting start to the wine. Abounding with herbs in the nose, charming and warm. The acids are extremely lively at the beginning, practically radiating clear liveliness, although in this category we rarely think of this. And here we could also speak of its dynamism and boundless cleanness of flavour. A real essence that, despite its infinite youthfulness, is in the “difficult to spit” category.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
