Winemaking

Aszú berries selected individually by hand from the vine are put into specially-made vats. We use the pure must that drips slowly from the mound of aszú berries to make Eszencia. The juice collected ferments slowly over years in our Szegi cellar which has a stable temperature around 10 °C and extremely high relative humidity level (>90%).

Wine tasting

“This special lot has around 500 g/l residual sugar with 2 % alcohol. Such clean Eszencia cannot be made every year.
It starts a little closed, but this category is never any other. It offers warm notes: honey, fig, chestnut, date and walnut complemented with the refined hint of the barrel. In the mouth the acids are extremely dynamic, but the ripe grape can be found throughout the sip. Its texture is also unbelievably silky, its world of flavours stunning. Despite the extremely high sugar content, it sweeps you off your feet not with heaviness but far rather with its charm.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
