Winemaking

Sípos-dűlő is among Tállya’s great historic vineyards. The healthy grapes were picked by hand during a careful harvest and delivered to the winery in boxes. After destemming and a short maceration, we pressed them gently at low pressure. After settling, the wine fermented spontaneously in first-fill Zemplén barrels and currently we are keeping it on fine lees. During the winemaking, we pay particular attention to use as little sulphur as possible. The parcel was not treated with any pesticides in 2016. Nor did we use herbicides. We ploughed by horse and weeded with hoes.

Wine tasting

“The Márton Birtok of Tállya debuts at this year’s Auction. Their lands are in the best Tállya vineyards, their aim is to create high quality and unique wines. The wine is very young but its coolly elegant tones can already be discerned. Alongside the good acidity, the tannins and subtle barrel notes can be felt. It has light and fruity aromatics; the presence of the wood is far rather detectable in the nose. A substantial, lively wine that radiates lightness and freshness throughout.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
