Szent Benedek Köveshegy Furmint „184” 2013

Vineyard: Tállya, Köveshegy-dűlő
Planted: around 1950-60
Ground: Köves-hegy dűlő soil is very firm nyirok on rhyolite tuff.
Harvest: 9th October 2013

Expected sugar: 2-4 g/l
Expected alcohol: 13.5-14 %

Winemaking: In the upper reaches of a valley open to the southwest, west. An older plantation, low cordon trained with the traditional small bunch Furmint.

We harvest when the bunches are at optimal ripeness. We do not allow shrivelling or other signs of overripeness to appear. The luscious golden yellow grapes ensure we have a light and elegant wine with the crisp acidity and floral notes typical of the terroir. Wine number 184 fermented in a 500 l barrel, then matured in two second-fill Szerednyei barrels (220 l).

Tasting notes: “The wine introduces itself with a massive minerally note, but fruitiness is not in short supply. Very tightly controlled vine yield, the wine offers seemingly unlimited excitement in the glass. Lingering and stylish, with fine peach flavours on the finish.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
