Degenfeld Panorama

The German-Hungarian Gróf Degenfeld family and their excellent estate have played an important role in the history of the Tokaj wine region. In 1994 the family decided to revive the estate and purchased first-class vineyards and an ancient cellar in Tarcal near Tokaj. Their 100 hectare estate has vineyards on Theresa hill of Tarcal, Mézesmál between Mád and Mezőzombor which are among the best sites of the entire Tokaj Wine Region.

“Nobility brings responsibility.” The estate makes no compromises for its expectations for quality, thus the strict yield limits and bunch selection. The main aim for creating the wines is to reach a synthesis which successfully links reliable processes used for centuries with the most recent winemaking knowledge and modern technology.

This striving is demonstrated by the fact that Gróf Degenfeld Winery today cultivates 35 ha of vineyards organically also demonstrates this commitment. Combined with strict yield restrictions, this has given popular, award-winning wines. The family of the counts Degenfeld is dedicated to the traditions of Tokaj and top quality wines to which the region gives its name.
