Winemaking

The ever first wine presented at the very first auction in 2013 was a Dry Furmint Szent Tamás 2012 – a historic wine! We continue our experience expressing Grand Cru Szent Tamás, a photograph of Tokaj’s most famous terroir. The “rapid” winemaking allows the winemaker to catch the plot’s specific character. 2016 was tricky but we harvested beautiful grapes without Botrytis. Direct pressing, then the must ferments in Zemplén wooden barrels.

Wine tasting

“Samuel Tinon’s dry Furmints have already gathered a serious and enthusiastic audience. The defined structure, subtly lively acidity and clearly discernible minerality have made it a favourite of gourmets. Similar to its predecessors, this lot also fermented in the barrel. The nose is still a little closed; there is less fruit but the spiciness is there at the end. Basil and refined salty line. In the mouth superb structure along with unbelievable richness and minerals. No lack of acidity, seriously complemented by the richness of the flavours. A gorgeous wine with perceptible tannins. A long Furmint, not the charming type – far rather the “advanced” version.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
