Winemaking

The harvest was carried out in several steps starting from the middle of September. We harvested bunches with high acidity and low sugar in mid-September, fully ripe bunches in late September and bunches with shrivelled berries in mid-October. Both the Furmint and the Hárslevelű base wines were fermented in 500-litre, third-fill oak barrels in which they were aged for 6 months. The lot is a blend of 1/3 Hárslevelű, 2/3 Furmint. We fermented and aged the base wines separately before they were blended.

Wine tasting

“All the grapes for the wine come from vines that were planted in the Megyer dűlő in the 1970s: 70 % Furmint, 30 % Hárslevelű. The qualities of this slightly cooler terroir show very beautifully in this wine. Both nose and palate are exceedingly lively and dynamic. A trace of yeastiness can still be discerned. Superb acids, subtle minerality. Fermented in a 500-litre barrel, the barrel notes glide into the otherwise intensively fruity aromatics. The texture of the wine makes it slightly more strong featured.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
