Winemaking: Samuel Tinon presents his Furmint wine from Szent Tamás vineyard for the third time at the Great Tokaj Wine Auction. Due to the success of the first two lots, the family winery decided to continue the presentation of this first growth cru. Every vintage has its history and the terroir also speaks to us through the wine: it says candidly whether the winemaker has managed to portray the character of the vineyard. 2014 was a difficult year and for this wine the grapes had to be picked in a similar way to the aszú berries, practically one by one (this is very rare indeed when making a dry wine!). It fermented in oak where it is still resting.

Wine tasting: “Wines from Szent Tamás vineyard need no introduction to wine consumers. It was among the first Mád vineyards to receive the appropriate attention through its earliest single-vineyard dry wines. Samuel Tinon’s Szent Tamás Furmint is not appearing for the first time in the Auction; we were able to taste the 2013 last year. The style of the 2014 wine is similar to its predecessor. Lively with dynamic acids, a whisper less concentration. But its fruitiness when tasted young surpasses it. Exciting, complex world of aromas, this wine has a long aging potential.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
