Samuel Tinon Tokaj Grand Liquoreux

Samuel Tinon Tokaj Grand Liquoreux Szent Tamás Furmint 2013

Vineyards: Szent Tamás, Mád
Harvest: 8th October 2013

Sugar: 1.4 g/l
Alcohol: 12.5 %

Winemaking: After the great success of the Dry Furmint Szent Tamás 2012, the very first wine sold at the very first Tokaj Wine Auction in April 2013, Samuel Tinon decided to deepen his experience in expressing the Grand Cru Szent Tamás. This Dry Furmint is a photograph of Tokaj’s most famous terroir. The winemaking is “rapid” and allows the winemaker to catch the character of this very specific plot in another vintage. Harvested on the 8th of October, this wine is very close to the 2012: same winemaker, same plot, but harvested one month later. It shows that the date of harvest is essential to catch the perfect balance between alcohol, sugar, acidity and freshness. It’s a delightfully drinkable wine, wonderfully fresh, incredibly surprising!

Wine tasting: “This wine is not the first vintage of that emblematic site. The nose is that of a Furmint, with a rather strong mineral note. Brisk but well-balanced and appealingly structured. This is a manly wine but even-keeled all around. Graced by aromas of quince and sea salt.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
