Winemaking: As Gizella plans to release only single-vineyard wines from the 2013 vintage, we chose to offer this single variety, a Hárslevelű, which is a blend of 50 % Szent Tamás and 50 % Barát dűlő. Thus we have a unique wine for the Confrérie portfolio. Grapes harvested in late September in Barát, mid-October in Szent Tamás fermented in used and new barrels. Currently on fine lees.

2013 was also an excellent vintage for dry wines. The arrival of Botrytis meant we had to pay particular attention to ensure the harvest of healthy bunches only. This wine is interesting in that it is a blend half from the loess soils of Tarcal, half from the firm clay of Mád. So, a pure Hárslevelű varietal wine that fuses the character of two lands. Light, floral notes from Tarcal, with the body and weight of Mád. The Hárslevelű aroma also assists in presenting the two terroirs. In this vintage the variety shows just the right balance of depth and citrus.

Tasting notes: “This light straw yellow wine with a greenish hue suits the rich tropical aromas of pineapple and grapefruit beautifully. The citrusy taste is defined by hints of sweet orange suggesting perfectly ripe grapes at harvest, as well as by a tarter line reminiscent of grapefruit. The body, acidity and alcohol are in good balance.” (Gabriella Mészáros)
